Offprint London 2024 Report

Offprint London 2024 Report

Off Print London, held in May, was held at Tate Modern. This art book fair is also held in Paris, and since the two events overlap, with Paris Photo and London Photo, many of them specialize in photobooks. I'd like to introduce some of the exhibits, including those from MACK, a Europe-based store also sold in Japan, and conversely, a Paris-based store selling Japan's premier vintage photobooks. I also found some magazines that haven't yet been released in Japan, and publishers that can only be found in certain places in Japan.

A+M bookstore , VIAINDUSTRIAE

The fair will feature a selection of photographs by Clément Lambelet, who is the artistic director of the MA Photography program at Écal. The fair will also feature the A+M bookstore Edizioni, the publisher of A+M bookstore, the first bookstore in Italy to specialize in contemporary art. The booth will feature A&M bookstore Edizioni and VIAINDUSTRIAE, which publishes books by Chinese and European photographers. Genda #4, published by A+M bookstore Edizioni, and The Violence of the State will feature the photographs of Clément Lambelet, who is the artistic director of the MA Photography program at Écal.

Synchron Magazine

This Berlin-based publisher publishes independent magazines and zines. Its editor-in-chief is Shima, a Japanese language student at Humboldt University, who has collaborated on a project on the giant screen at NEO SHIBUYA TV in Japan. They reach out to a variety of artists and performers, regardless of nationality, including those they find interesting on Instagram and in the Berlin area, and select works based on a different theme for each issue. They also publish essays only, and produce publications that focus on reading material.

Ciao Press

Ciao, a Swiss organization organized by Nicolas Poli, a photographer and editor who runs a book-making workshop at Ecal.

Press also participated. "Ferox / The Forgotten Archives" Nicolas Polli presents the complex still life he has been photographing.

Unlike photographs, this book is a collection of works that includes a huge amount of research materials related to the International Mars Exploration Mission (IEMS), a United Nations research institute, and also

Although it is a series of black and white photographs, in reality, the project, from story to book, is a work of fiction created by a single author.

ECAL

A booth displaying Ecal publications. In addition, books published by graduates are also on display. There are also books on Ecal's original typography and books published by Ecal's photography department.

The store also sells books related to automated photography, which has been researched for years, and the photography department regularly participates in the event.

PALAIS

Located in Arles, this publishing house publishes books in a variety of fields. The one that caught my eye was "This Mortal House Building 1 Performance: Maria Stamenković Herranz," for which Abramović wrote the introduction. It's a work by a Turkish performance and installation artist. The premiere edition comes with a unique eye mask.

Alei Journal

Since 2016, Alley Journal has been an independent magazine commissioned and curated by Stas Kalashnikov, Melody Zagury and E. Daphne Mookerjee, based in Paris and distributed worldwide by KD Press, featuring a variety of sensitive fashion photography that is simply a joy to look at.

Woman Cave

It's an independent feminist magazine publisher based in Paris. It's bilingual, in French and English, and they're keen to incorporate feminist perspectives from a variety of countries. I felt the powerful advantage of publishing, which is that it's a creative space that accepts a wide range of voices, regardless of background, and has a wide entrance. As a book fair that primarily features European publishers, if you have the chance to visit London, why not visit it once to get the chance to learn about European artists active in Europe, as well as small publishers that feature artists not many people know about?
