Tell us about the beginning of your career. What led you to switch from ceramics to woodworking?
TR CUITE: I started my career in ceramics, but my interest in nature and the allure of wood led me to switch to woodworking. Ceramics is great, but the organic qualities and warmth of wood really spark my creativity.
What is it about wood that fascinates you and how do you incorporate it into your work?
TR: I am fascinated by the natural patterns and textures of wood. I use these characteristics to create designs that bring out the natural beauty of wood to the fullest.
Your work seems to draw a lot of inspiration from nature. What natural elements in particular influence your creations?
TR: I am especially inspired by the shapes of forests and trees, as well as the curves and patterns in the landscape. The imperfections and unpredictability found in nature give me new perspectives on my creations.
What challenges do you face when combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design?
TR: The biggest challenge is finding the balance between tradition and modernity. We aim to create new value by incorporating modern perspectives and functionality while respecting traditional techniques.
What are your impressions and influences on Japanese art and design?
TR: I am heavily influenced by Japanese art and design, characterized by minimalism and harmony with nature. Japanese craftsmanship and aesthetics are a major inspiration for my work.
Tell us about your upcoming projects and challenges.
TR: In the future, I would like to further deepen my woodworking skills and try projects that incorporate new materials and techniques. I would also like to actively participate in international exhibitions so that more people can know about my work.
What advice would you give to young artists and designers?
TR: I think it's important to believe in your passion and to keep learning. Also, I think it's important to take on challenges without being afraid of failure and to find your own style.
